Using this site
Accessibility
Public budget data is only transparent if everyone can actually read it. This page explains what we aim for and how to tell us when we fall short.
Our commitment
This portal is designed to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA — the standard most governments hold their digital services to. That is a design target we build toward, not a formal certification; if you find a place where we miss it, we want to know.
What that looks like here
- Every chart (treemap, bar, composition, trend) has a full data table alongside it, so the same figures are available to anyone who cannot read a chart visually.
- Meaning is never carried by color alone — figures like a budget deficit or surplus are labelled in words, not just shown in a different color.
- Pages use one consistent heading structure so the page can be navigated by heading with a screen reader, not just by sight.
- Every interactive control — filters, chart-type toggles, category pickers — is a real button or link, reachable and operable by keyboard alone.
- Figures are read out in their full, exact form (e.g. “$1,400,000,000”), never abbreviated to something like “$1.4B” that reads ambiguously out loud.
Known limitations
Some charts are third-party interactive components; while the data table next to each one is the accessible source of truth, direct keyboard interaction with the chart itself (zooming, hovering a specific segment) is not fully equivalent to mouse use yet. We are working through these as they’re found.
Report a barrier
If any part of this site is hard to use with a screen reader, keyboard-only navigation, or any other assistive technology, please tell the Budget Directorate directly at budget@mof.gov.so. Describe the page and what happened — we read every report.
